There is a gentle mysticism to Shelley Short that allows her to transcend the ineffably dull genre of the “singer/songwriter.” The wispy vocals and lingering guitar plucks of her brand of alt. country inspire sometimes haunting existential reflections on the most simple (and most daunting) aspects of life.
